Why a Registered Investment Advisor?
The Registered Investment Advisors’ appeal stems from the idea that their goals are aligned with those of their customers. Unlike stockbrokers, they are bound by fiduciary duty, meaning they must put clients’ interests ahead of their own. Stockbrokers are under no such obligation; they must simply offer products that are suitable for their customers.
According to the SEC, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) is used to describe an Investment Adviser who is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission or a state’s securities agency. The term has been popularized due to its use within the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and its association to the term “Investment Advisor” (IA) (spelled “Investment Adviser” in U.S. financial law). An IA is defined by the Securities and Exchange Commission as an individual or a firm that is in the business of giving advice about securities.
Economic Leads may provide investment advice in your state of residence only if first registered, excluded or exempted from state registration, as the case may be. Therefore, Economic Leads will not make follow-up individualized responses to you that involve the rendering of personalized investment advice for compensation, absent compliance with applicable state registration requirements, or an applicable exemption or exclusion.
